PRIMARY SEN CLASS TEACHER (DURHAM)

Are you a mainstream teacher ready for a rewarding new challenge that will change your career forever?

We are recruiting a compassionate Primary SEN Teacher to join a supportive and forward-thinking specialist provision in Durham. This is an ideal stepping stone for a mainstream teacher who is passionate about inclusion and wants to develop specialist skills in SEN.

You will teach small groups of pupils who require tailored support due to additional needs. Many pupils use behaviour as a way to communicate unmet needs, and your nurturing approach will help them feel safe, understood, and ready to learn.

In this role you will:

  • Plan and deliver personalised, creative lessons

  • Support pupils with emotional, behavioural, and learning needs

  • Build strong relationships with pupils, families, and colleagues

  • Use therapeutic and sensory strategies to support regulation

  • Contribute to a multidisciplinary team supporting holistic development

We are seeking someone calm, resilient, and committed to safeguarding vulnerable children. Experience in mainstream teaching is welcomed, and full SEN training will be provided.

This is a rare opportunity to join a team that truly values relationships, wellbeing, and progress in all forms—not just academic outcomes. If you want a meaningful teaching role where every day matters, apply now.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
