Job description
Protocol Education are currently working with excellent SEND schools in Rossendale and surrounding areas, who are looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistants with SEND experience to join their schools as soon as possible. You will be working with children aged between 3 and 19 years old; each with statements of Special Education Needs. Most of the children you will be working with have very limited communication skills, and some are completely non-verbal. You will be assisting more than one class, as well as working 1:1 with your selected student. This schools looks after children with SEMH and ASD; although, a majority of the time you will spend within one class.

To be eligible to apply for this position, it is essential that you have experience supporting pupils with PMLD and their personal care needs - this will involve changing and feeding. Some schools have an in-built swimming complex and the successful TA will have to be comfortable in a swimming environment and on occasion may have to enter the swimming pool complex. In addition to this, PECS and/or Makaton will be useful in this post; however training will be provided.

You will need to be available to start immediately, as well as being able to commit to working full school hours, a minimum of 3 school days per week. You must have a good command of numeracy and literacy, as this is especially important when supporting pupils with limited communication skills.
This post will initially be for daily cover, however, there is scope for long term work.
