Protocol Education are currently looking for specialised play therapists to start at a fantastic school in Hackney from September. The ideal candidate will have a range of experience with special needs especially with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH).

As part of the school's therapy team, you will play a critical role in ensuring the pupils achieve to their full potential. You will observe the child's behaviour during play sessions, explore issues with the child, make a diagnosis and construct activities that can help the child heal. The successful candidate will have the confidence and strength to enter in depth Play Therapy ensuring that the children make sense of difficult experiences or complex psychological issues. Due to the global pandemic of Covid-19 this couldn't be more prevalent as it is key to assess children's needs to help increase their development within Early Years.


•Assess each child and their individual needs
•Determine a course of therapeutic treatment
•Provide therapeutic interventions in individual and group therapy sessions, normally on a weekly basis, to help children better cope with issues they face
•Build up a relationship of trust with children and their parents/carers
•Create a safe and stable environment in which children can express themselves through play
•Review therapeutic interventions on a regular basis
•Work with other healthcare professionals, such as social workers and medical practitioners
•Attend meetings, maintain client records and produce reports on activities and progress. Applicants must have
•Childcare Qualifications (NNEB, CACHE or NVQ)
•Experience working with children with SEND
•Have a knowledge of the six nurture principles
•A positive attitude, enthusiasm and the ability to interact with young children
