Job description

A career where you are not only preparing young children for Big School', but you are expanding their creativity, promoting their critical thinking, encouraging problem solving and developing their social skills, which will serve as key in helping them take that big step into their life of education.

I am currently recruiting nursery staff for a number of establishments across Cambridgeshire covering the areas of Cambridge, Peterborough, Suffolk and Norfolk. We offer work on a daily supply, long term cover and permanent basis. These positions can range from trainees, nursery workers, nursery nurses or room leaders.

Ideally applicants must have an NVQ Level 2/3 in Childcare & Education or the equivalent, although they are open to looking at candidates who are not qualified and have experience in an early years setting. In house training is sometimes available. The shifts vary from 8-5 and 9-6 on a daily basis.

What will you do?

. Plan and supervise activities like arts and crafts, music and cooking

. Assist children in Language and Numeracy through games and other activities

. Take children on days out

. Feeding and changing babies

. Work as an effective team member, delivering a flexible and high quality of education and care to meet the needs of the children and their families.

. Observe children and create reports

. Ensure the safety and wellbeing of every child

. Behavioural management in line with Nursery policy

. Maintain a clean, tidy and productive learning environment for children

. Be responsive and compliant with our registration and safeguarding procedures, providing up to date photographic ID and right to work, relevant reference details and where applicable, a recent Overseas Police Check


Don't forget that with more experience, you could become a key worker within that child's everyday life, developing strategies and plans with parents, to support their progress and learning.

What skills are required?

. Be creative and flexible and provide high quality childcare.

. Highly observant and aware of children and their surroundings

. Excellent communication skills

. The ability to work co-operatively with children and their families, in a sensitive and positive way

. Planning and organisation

. I.T. Skills

As you become more experienced, you may be required to support children with learning and behavioural difficulties, physical difficulties or mental health issues.
