Job description
Do you have a background of working in Construction, Security or within a Prison?

We have an increasing need for candidates who are interested in working with challenged and vulnerable young people. We have found over recent years that the transitional skills that come from those with the above background do exceptionally well in getting through to disengaged youths mainly due to excellent rapport building, being thick skinned and able to have a calming influence whilst demonstrating self-restraint.

Experience of working in a School or educational setting is not necessary. Wanting to provide young people with a positive role model, help them make better decisions and provide counsel to them are all essential.

The role will be challenging, yet very rewarding. You may be dealing with challenging behaviour and resistance, but from working together and building meaningful relationships you will see the benefits of your work from the student's development academically and socially.

The role will be to support a student on a 1:1 basis, often in a classroom setting. The student will continue to learn a variety of subjects, and your role will be to keep them focussed on the task and performing to the best of their ability. The students focus may suddenly change, or their mood may change, and you will be working to manage those changes and re-focus on their studies. The role really requires understanding young people and looking for long-term resolutions over short-terms fixes in order to help the student overcome triggers.

This is your chance to build a career within education and make a real difference in a young person's life. For more information please call Emmy at Protocol Education on 0203 219 7745.
