Occupational Therapist

Protocol Education is working with a specialist SEN school in South Shields to recruit a passionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist to join their multidisciplinary team on a full-time basis this September.

This rewarding role involves supporting children and young people with Autism (ASC), Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD), Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD), ADHD and complex physical and sensory needs. Working collaboratively with teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and support staff, you'll help pupils access education through personalised therapeutic interventions. School-based paediatric OTs commonly assess functional needs, recommend equipment and deliver interventions across educational settings.

• Monday-Friday
• Working hours: 8:30am-4:30pm
• Term-time only
• Long-term opportunity with potential for a permanent contract

Your responsibilities

• Managing a varied caseload of pupils with additional needs
• Completing functional and sensory assessments
• Developing personalised therapy programmes
• Supporting sensory integration and regulation strategies
• Advising on classroom adaptations and specialist equipment
• Working collaboratively with teachers, parents and external professionals
• Contributing to EHCP reviews and multidisciplinary meetings

We're looking for someone who

• Holds a recognised Occupational Therapy degree
• Is HCPC registered
• Has experience working with children or young people (desirable)
• Has excellent communication and report-writing skills
• Is passionate about improving outcomes for children with SEND

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
