Job description
A fantastic Nursery in Barnet are looking to recruit a full time qualified Nursery Nurse to join our their Team. The successful candidate should be able to carry out the following duties:
• To work as part of a team, maintaining good communication at all times
• To carry out all tasks that may be required, helping and supporting staff throughout the nursery as well as your immediate group
• Ensuring the needs of the children are met. Particularly your group of key children.
• Observing good practice at all times.
• Maintaining the safety, security and physical and emotional welfare of the children in the nursery
• Ensuring that all children are safe, clean and supervised at all times
• Supervising and encouraging children's independence at snack and meal times.
• Be aware of any dietary requirements/allergies
• Ensure room routines are adhered to, in particular, when a senior is not present.
• To deal with an accident when required to do so, following our accident/incident policy.
• To liaise with management when medication is to be administered to a child, following the medication policy
• To attend staff meetings and contribute with ideas, implementing all suggestions in a positive way
• Be available to attend parents evenings
• To carry out observations and assessments on children within your key group
• To be a positive role model, using positive language with the children to support boundaries and rules of the setting
• To contribute ideas to planning and ensure these support children's development and the curriculum
• Welcome all parents and children into the room in a warm friendly manner
• To record information passed on by parents in the communication book, as well as notifying management where relevant
• Giving in depth feedback to parents at the end of their child's session
• Ensure messages are clearly communicated to senior staff
• Maintain child learning journals for all key children and contribute to other staff's journals if required
• Ensure daily sheets are completed appropriately for each child and given to parents
• Provide a variety of activities suitable for age groups.
• Be aware of all policies and procedures and put them in to practice
• Change nappies and encourage children with toilet training and personal hygiene
• Help children settle and build effective partnerships with parents
• To attend training and feedback this information to other members of staff
• Use initiative and seek help where needed
• Arrive on time and leave after checking that ratios are met.
• Contribute to open days and other promotions required by the nursery
• To maintain the nursery environment e.g. sterilising, cleaning, tidying and other jobs deemed necessary for the efficient smooth running of the nursery
• To respect confidentiality within the nursery
