MFL Cover Supervisor (Modern Foreign Languages)

Location: Stockton-on-Tees
Salary: Competitive, dependent on experience
Contract: Full-Time / Part-Time Available

Are you passionate about languages and interested in working within education? Do you have experience working with young people and the confidence to lead a classroom?

Protocol Education is working with secondary schools across Stockton-on-Tees that are looking to appoint enthusiastic and reliable MFL Cover Supervisors to support their Modern Foreign Languages departments.

This role is ideal for graduates of French, Spanish, German, or related language disciplines, aspiring teachers, language enthusiasts, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

The Role

As an MFL Cover Supervisor, you will supervise lessons across the Modern Foreign Languages department in the absence of the class teacher. You will deliver pre-planned work, support student engagement, and ensure a positive and productive learning environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supervising MFL lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
  • Delivering pre-set work provided by the class teacher.
  • Managing classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Encouraging students to engage with language learning activities.
  • Providing support and guidance to students throughout lessons.
  • Working collaboratively with teaching and support staff.

This is a classroom supervision role and does not involve lesson planning, marking, or formal teaching responsibilities.

  • Have a strong interest in Modern Foreign Languages.
  • Hold a degree or qualification in French, Spanish, German, or a related subject (desirable but not essential).
  • Have experience working with children or young people.
  • Be confident leading groups and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Be adaptable, professional, and reliable.
