Job description
Maths Teacher - Wakefield - Specialist Setting

You will be teaching students in an alternative provision based just outside the centre of Wakefield with the aim of improving their academic, personal and social development. This role is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding. You will be teaching learners with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties in a specialist learning environment with small class sizes and high staff to student ratio. You'll be required to use a reflexive approach to learners, their learning and needs, and be able to work creatively and be proactive. Emotional resilience and an ability to engage learners whom may have had a negative experience of education is a must, ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment.

We are looking for some one who can....

•Differentiate teaching materials to suit learners needs at the time.
•Managing a small team of support professionals.
•Adhering to very specific learning plans and adding to these if required
• Adapting learning to increase interaction.
•Provide emotional support if required.
•Encourage appropriate social interactions.
•Maintain professional standards at all times.

Person Specification

•Working in a similar environment or other experience of working with young people whom may present challenging behaviours.
•Resilience and patience, compassion and understanding.
•An ability to be proactive, creative and empathetic.
•Have an approachable and supportive manner when liaising with team members
•To be able to follow detailed behaviour support plans (BSPs), individual learning plans (ILPs).
•To adhere to the school's policies and practices.
•Ideally you will be Team Teach trained (not essential)
