Makaton Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated Makaton Teaching Assistant to support pupils within a specialist school in Sunderland.

The role will involve providing tailored support to pupils with communication and additional needs, using Makaton and other communication strategies to help pupils express themselves and access their education.

The ideal candidate will:

• Have experience using Makaton within an educational or care setting
• Have experience supporting children with SEN
• Be confident adapting communication to individual pupils
• Be patient, caring and nurturing
• Have a genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
