Job description
We are looking for support specialists for long term opportunities that we have within the boroughs of Lambeth and Southwark. As these opportunities involve working with pupils who have a variety of special educational needs, previous or existing experience in this field is an advantage. However, the schools that we work with are open to considering strong LSA's with mainstream experience. We work with a variety of SEND schools which offer candidates work throughout a variety of different settings, including: SEND Schools, PRU's, Inclusion centres and SEND Units that are attached to mainstream schools.

Ideally, you will;

• Be able to work either part or full-time
• Have previous experience working with children, or young adults, with different educational needs
• Confidence dealing with pupils with different abilities
• A good knowledge of the national curriculum or confident in supporting small groups with particular subject/s (e.g. Numeracy, literacy booster groups)
• Cable of dealing with challenging behaviour, promoting focus, classroom management and on-going
1:1 support where necessary
• Good interpersonal and communicational skills
• General knowledge / good understanding of ASD

As a support specialist (LSA), you will: support and facilitate pupil's academic, social and personal development as well as encouraging pupils to develop their social skills. This will include working with pupils within small groups AND/OR on an individual basis as well as supporting, and collaborating with, the class teacher to facilitate pupils complete access to the curriculum.
