We are recruiting a full-time Learning Support Assistant to provide dedicated SEN support within a KS1 classroom in a Gateshead primary school. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build experience within SEN schools.

About the role:

You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to support a pupil with additional needs on a 1:1 basis, while also contributing to the wider classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide consistent 1:1 support to a pupil with SEND
  • Adapt classroom activities to suit individual learning needs
  • Support early phonics, reading, and numeracy development
  • Help manage routines, transitions, and engagement
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and social interaction
  • Monitor progress and provide feedback to teaching staff

Requirements:

  • A patient, calm, and supportive approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Interest in SEND and child development
  • Experience in a school or similar setting desirable but not essential

Working Hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
