Job description
Protocol Education currently requires an enthusiastic and proactive learning support assistant (LSA) to work in an outstanding pupil referral (PRU) unit in Newham. This is an alternative provision, which supports the academic and personal development of pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs, with an emphasis to ultimately reintegrate them back into a mainstream setting.

As you will be supporting pupils with challenging behaviour and complex needs, as well as a small number with ASD, previous experience catering for these challenges would be a distinct advantage. Class sizes are small, with no more than 7 pupils in a class, with excellent support in place within the classroom and throughout the school. The school has both a primary and secondary site on campus, so a willingness to work across both sites when required, is essential.

Ideally, you will;

• Be able to commit to a full-time role, 5 days a week
• Have previous experience working with children, or young adults, with different educational needs
• A good knowledge of the national curriculum or confident in supporting small groups with particular subject/s (e.g.
numeracy, literacy booster groups)
• Cable of dealing with challenging behaviour, promoting focus, classroom management and on-going 1:1 support where
necessary
• Good interpersonal and communication skills
• General knowledge/understanding of ASD and complex needs, and the approaches required to facilitate complete access
to the curriculum for these pupils

As a learning support assistant, you will support and facilitate pupil's academic, social and personal development. This will include working with pupils within small groups or on a 1:1 basis by supporting, and collaborating with, the class teacher to facilitate pupils complete access to the curriculum.

Protocol Education offers all Learning Support Assistants:

• Excellent rates of pay
• Professional support from our team of experienced consultants
• A wide variety of different positions, both day to day and long term
• Continued support through all placements
• Free CPD courses
• Team teacher training provided within the first 12 weeks of registering with Protocol Education

If this role is of interest to you, please feel free to contact Aiden at Protocol Education on 0203 219 7745 for further information. Alternatively, please send an updated CV to Aiden.Kelly@protocol-education.com
