Cover Supervisor (Unqualified Teachers Welcome)

A secondary school in Waltham Forest is looking to appoint a confident and reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team as soon as possible. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates, aspiring teachers, or individuals with experience working with young people who are looking to gain valuable experience in a school setting.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teachers, ensuring students remain on task and complete the work set by teaching staff. This role does not require Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) but does require strong classroom presence and confidence managing groups of students.
Supervise whole classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 during teacher absences.
Ensure students complete the work set by the class teacher.
Manage classroom behaviour in line with the school’s behaviour policy.
Provide support and guidance to students where needed.
Report back to teaching staff on student engagement and behaviour.
Maintain a positive, safe and productive learning environment.
A degree or strong academic background (preferred but not essential).
Experience working with young people (schools, tutoring, coaching, youth work or mentoring).
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
A confident and proactive approach to supporting students.
A genuine interest in working in education.
A supportive and welcoming school environment.
Excellent experience for those considering teacher training or a PGCE.
