As a learning support assistant, part of your role will be to create a setting that will inspire each child to become self-confident, independent life-learners who can confidently express themselves and make their own choice, whilst safeguarding, their happiness and safety. The school caters to the needs of children and young people between the ages of 11 and 19 years who have significant learning difficulties including those with an additional diagnosis of autism, and those with additional medical needs.

We are looking for an individual who is committed to upholding excellent standards with the high expectation that there is no defined limit to a pupils potential. All experienced, skilled staff and professionals work together positively to create the best outcomes for each pupil.


This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.


Responsibilities:

• Managing pupil's behaviour and everyday needs.
• Helping the students with their life skills.
• Some personal care.
• Working with the teacher to assess pupil's levels and ability.
• Ensuring the schools ethos and policies are being implemented.
• Supporting students with work set by the class teacher.

For this role, you will have:

• Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
• Previous support work within a school or other child related experience
• Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour
• Happy to work one to one and small group work
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach
