This role is based within a special needs' primary schools for children aged 2 to 11 who have Autism and/or severe learning difficulties. This school aims to help children realise their potential by embracing different teaching techniques and learning inducements differentiated to meet individual needs, engaging them in decision making. The role of a support assistant will be to promote outstanding and inspiring education, adapted to the individual needs in a safe and secure environment. As a support assistant your responsibility will also be to create a stimulating safe, fun and healthy environment where pupils feel happy and appreciated. The role will require you to be flexible, have plenty of enthusiasm, motivation, good communication skills and the ability to work 1:1 or with small groups across multiple age groups on specific programmes if required.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Responsibilities:

·Managing pupil's behaviour
·Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
·Helping the students with their life skills

For this role, you will have:

·Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
·Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
·Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
·Happy to work one to one and small group work.
·An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.
