Job description
Learning Support Assistant

A Special Needs School in South East London is seeking to appoint an LSA (Learning Support Assistant) to work alongside other support assistants and a Teacher in their primary classes. All applicants must have recent experience working with children with special educational needs, in either a primary school or specialist SEN environment.

Personal care (feeding and changing) are component parts of the job but you would not be expected to do this without being given on the job training on the schools best practice procedures.

The classes consist of between five to eight pupils with a broad range of learning and medical needs, some of whom are wheelchair bound. You would be working alongside very experienced LSA's who are supportive, friendly and hardworking.

The ideal candidate would have:

·A proven record of working with SEN students with a range of needs

·A good understanding of P levels

·Have a basic understanding of PECS and Makaton

·Registered DBS or be prepared to carry out a new DBS application.
