Primary SEN Experience Essential | KS2 | Permanent Opportunity

Are you an experienced Learning Support Assistant or SEN Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with additional needs?

Protocol Education is looking for a dedicated and compassionate LSA to join a primary school in BS16, Bristol, supporting a Key Stage 2 pupil in Year 3/4.

This is a full-time, long-term opportunity starting 1st September, with the role expected to progress into a permanent position with the school.

About the Role

You will provide dedicated support to a pupil with complex additional needs, including Autism and Pathological Demand Avoidance (PDA).

Your support will help the pupil access learning, manage challenges and develop confidence and independence within the school environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 support throughout the school day.
• Supporting access to the curriculum and classroom activities.
• Using appropriate strategies to support Autism and PDA.
• Helping the pupil manage emotional and behavioural challenges.
• Encouraging independence, confidence and positive engagement.
• Building a strong, trusting relationship with the pupil.
• Working closely with the class teacher and wider school team.
• Maintaining a calm, structured and supportive environment.

‍ Essential Requirements

• Primary school SEN experience is essential.
• Previous experience as an LSA, SEN TA or Teaching Assistant.
• Experience supporting children with complex additional needs.
• Experience with Autism and PDA would be highly desirable.
• Experience working with KS2 pupils, ideally Year 3/4.
• A patient, calm, resilient and compassionate approach.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Ability to commit to Monday–Friday, full-time hours.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply.

Monday – Friday: 8:40am – 3:10pm
