Learning Support Assistant

A specialist secondary school in Gateshead is looking for a Learning Support Assistant to support pupils aged 11–16 with Autism, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

This role would suit candidates who are passionate about making a positive difference and helping young people achieve both academically and personally.

Duties:

• Supporting pupils within lessons
• Delivering targeted interventions
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement
• Supporting emotional regulation strategies
• Working alongside teaching staff and external professionals
• Assisting with educational visits and enrichment activities

Working Hours:

• Monday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
• Tuesday: 8:30am – 4:00pm
• Wednesday: 8:30am – 3:45pm
• Thursday: 8:30am – 4:15pm
• Friday: 8:30am – 3:15pm

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people
• SEND experience desirable
• Strong communication skills
• Full-time availability
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willing to apply

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
