We’re looking for a Learning Support Assistant who truly understands Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. Someone who knows that behaviour is communication. Someone who can recognise early signs of dysregulation and respond with calm, consistent support.
We’re working with welcoming mainstream primary schools looking for specialist LSAs to support pupils across KS1 and KS2, with a focus on behaviour management and SEMH.
If you’ve got that steady presence, the one pupils gravitate towards when they’re overwhelmed, this could be your next role.
Supporting children across KS1 and KS2
Working 1:1 and in small groups with pupils who need extra emotional support
Using positive behaviour strategies to encourage regulation
Helping children develop social skills, routines and confidence
Supporting pupils to access learning within the classroom
Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
In primary, progress can look like a child staying in class for a full lesson. Putting their hand up instead of walking out. Using the tools you’ve taught them when frustration kicks in. You’ll be there for those moments.
Has experience in primary settings, KS1 or KS2
Understands SEMH and behaviour management strategies
Has worked with children with additional needs
Is calm, consistent and emotionally intelligent
Can commit full-time during term time
Experience in youth work, SEND settings, mentoring or behaviour-focused roles is highly valued.
Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
FREE access to our online CPD Academy
Ongoing training in behaviour and SEND
A dedicated consultant who understands primary SEMH roles
Long-term placements in supportive schools
Referral scheme, earn rewards for referring friends
We know behaviour-focused roles require resilience and support. The schools we work with provide guidance, structure and clear systems so you can focus on what matters most, the children.
In primary, you’re not just managing behaviour. You’re helping children build the skills they’ll carry into secondary school and beyond.
You’re helping them feel safe. Understood. Capable.
And that stays with them.
If you’re ready to bring your SEMH and behaviour expertise into KS1 and KS2 classrooms, we’d love to chat.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
