Protocol Education are working with a mainstream secondary school who are seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you may have the responsibility of mentoring individual pupils who need support in regulating their mood and helping them focus on lessons.

You must be a strong team player with the ability to contribute to the wider life of the school.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Pastoral Support Team to support and encourage students to develop their skills.

This post is ideal for recent graduates or experience practitioners who may be considering embarking on a career in teaching, health or social care, as you will have the opportunity to work with young people with a range of needs.

You will join a vibrant and forward-looking team of highly dedicated, collaborative, and supportive practitioners who have the drive to make a real difference to our pupils.

 

Requirements of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work with SEN/ SEMH students of all ages
  • Ability to adapt to different learning styles
  • A positive approach to managing challenging behaviour
  • Ability to take sufficient notes

Responsibilities of a Learning Support Assistant:

  • Working with students 1-1 and in small groups supporting the teacher and other academic mentors across all subjects and lessons
  •  Ensure all pupils are happy and engaged in their work
  •  Feeding back to the class teacher to monitor progress and any issues
