Learning and Behaviour Support Assistant

A welcoming and inclusive school in Telford is seeking a dedicated Learning & Behaviour Support Assistant to join its specialist SEMH (Social, Emotional and Mental Health) Hub. This rewarding role involves supporting children with complex learning, communication, and emotional needs, ensuring they can access a personalised curriculum in a safe, structured, and nurturing environment.

The successful candidate will be passionate about supporting vulnerable learners, able to build positive relationships, and committed to helping children overcome barriers to learning. Key Responsibilities

• Support pupils with SEMH needs and additional learning requirements within the specialist hub.
• Assist children in accessing a differentiated curriculum tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
• Help implement personalised learning and behaviour support plans.
• Promote positive behaviour, emotional wellbeing, and engagement in learning.
• Build strong, supportive relationships that encourage confidence, independence, and resilience.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SEND staff, and external professionals to support pupil progress.
• Contribute to creating a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH, SEND, behavioural needs, or additional learning needs.
• A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach.
• The ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting children with complex needs.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A flexible and proactive attitude towards supporting pupils and staff.
• A genuine commitment to inclusion, wellbeing, and improving outcomes for children.
