Fancy making a real difference during those all-important Key Stage 2 years?
You might just be the person we’re looking for.

We’re on the lookout for Teaching Assistants to support pupils across KS2 classes at a primary school in BS31. This is a hands-on role where you’ll help children build confidence, master core skills and feel proud of their progress, whether that’s one-to-one, in small groups, or as part of the wider classroom.

You’ll be working in mainstream KS2 settings, supporting class teachers with lessons in literacy, numeracy and the wider curriculum, and helping pupils stay focused, motivated and ready to learn.

Experience supporting children with SEN is a bonus, but not a dealbreaker. What really matters is your energy, empathy and enthusiasm. If you’ve worked in youth work, sports coaching, tutoring or you’re studying psychology or education, your skills will transfer brilliantly into this role.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting KS2 pupils with additional needs so they can access learning and make progress

  • Working closely with teachers to deliver targeted support, especially around reading, writing and maths

  • Helping pupils develop independence, resilience and positive learning habits

  • Creating a calm, inclusive classroom environment where children feel safe and supported

  • Bringing patience, positivity and a sense of humour to every school day

What we’re looking for:

  • Someone caring, confident and comfortable working with children aged 7–11

  • Experience with SEN or a genuine willingness to learn and get stuck in

  • People from sports, coaching, youth work or psychology backgrounds are especially welcome

  • A DBS on the update service, or willingness to apply for one

Why join Protocol Education?

  • Weekly pay and flexible work to fit around your life
  • Free CPD and training to support your development, including SEN and behaviour support
  • Friendly, supportive consultants who genuinely have your back
  • A chance to make a real difference during a crucial stage of a child’s education

What We Need to Get You Started:

    • Passport
    • Two proofs of address, for example driving licence, utility bill, or council tax letter
    • CV covering the last 10 years of work or education, with gaps explained
    • Two years of references, including childcare or youth work where relevant
    • OSPC if you’ve lived overseas for three months or more in the last five years

We’re proud to work with educators from a wide range of backgrounds, including those new to education, who bring passion, care and transferable skills into KS2 classrooms.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
