Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) – Key Stage 1 | BS15

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a number of welcoming primary schools across BS15 to recruit experienced and confident Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) who are passionate about supporting children in Key Stage 1.

This is a fantastic opportunity for HLTAs who enjoy helping young learners develop the essential skills they need to succeed. From supporting early reading, writing and maths to building confidence, independence and a love of learning, you'll play a vital role in helping pupils flourish during these important early years of primary school.

Working closely with class teachers, you'll deliver targeted interventions, lead learning when required, and provide consistent support that enables every child to reach their full potential. A Bit About You

  • Experience supporting pupils across Key Stage 1

  • Confident leading learning and delivering planned lessons when required

  • Calm, patient, and nurturing with a positive approach to behaviour management

  • Skilled at building strong relationships with pupils, staff, and families

  • Able to support learning across the KS1 curriculum, including phonics, reading, writing, maths, and foundation subjects

  • Experience adapting learning to meet a range of needs, including supporting pupils with SEND

  • Passionate about helping children develop confidence, curiosity, independence, and a lifelong love of learning

What We'll Need to Clear You

  • Valid passport or proof of right to work

  • Two proofs of address (such as a driving licence, utility bill, council tax statement, or P45/P60)

  • An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years of employment or education, with any gaps explained

  • Two years of references, including childcare references where applicable

  • An Overseas Police Check (OSPC) if you have lived overseas for three months or more within the last five years

Location: BS15

Pay: £95–£105 per day, paid weekly

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
