Protocol Education is working with a genuinely welcoming secondary school that’s ready to bring a Humanities Teacher into their established team after Easter.
If you’ve been teaching a while and fancy a fresh start, or you’re an ECT looking for the right balance of support and independence, this could be one to look at.
The Humanities department is a good one. Collaborative, open to new ideas, and proud of what they’ve built. You won’t be boxed in here, you’ll be encouraged to share what works, try new approaches, and help students see how what they’re learning actually connects to the world around them.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll be teaching Humanities across KS3 and KS4, delivering lessons that feel purposeful, engaging, and inclusive. The curriculum is already well thought through, but there’s space for you to play to your strengths, whether that’s History, Geography, or another specialism.
Day to day, that looks like:
Planning and delivering lessons that challenge and inspire
Getting students thinking, questioning, and properly engaging in discussion
Creating a calm, positive classroom where behaviour for learning just works
Using a mix of teaching styles and tech to keep things relevant
Adapting lessons so every student has a way in
Keeping track of progress and using it to shape what comes next
Working closely with colleagues to keep things consistent, creative, and ambitious
What they’re looking for
UK QTS, or currently working towards it as an ECT
A real interest in Humanities and helping students understand why it matters
Confidence in the classroom and the ability to build strong relationships
Someone reflective, always looking to improve and grow
High expectations, with a belief that every student can achieve
What you’ll get through Protocol Education
Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
Free access to our online CPD Academy
Ongoing support from a consultant who actually gets what you need
Opportunities in schools that value wellbeing and development
A smooth, no-fuss registration process
If you’re an ECT, you’ll be supported properly, not just left to figure it out. And if you’re more experienced, you’ll have the freedom to bring your ideas into a team that’s open to them.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
