Protocol Education is working with a supportive primary school in Gateshead to recruit a full-time HLTA. This is a fantastic opportunity within HLTA jobs in Gateshead for someone confident delivering lessons and leading interventions.

About the role:

You’ll work across KS2, delivering pre-planned lessons, covering classes, and leading targeted interventions to support pupil progress.

What your day-to-day will look like:

Your role will be varied, structured, and highly rewarding. You will:

  • Deliver lessons across KS2 during teacher PPA time
  • Lead small group interventions in reading, writing, and maths
  • Support pupils who need additional help to stay on track
  • Work closely with class teachers to plan and adapt learning
  • Manage classroom behaviour confidently and consistently

You’ll play a key role in maintaining high-quality teaching and learning across the school.

What we’re looking for:

  • HLTA qualification or equivalent experience
  • Confidence leading whole-class sessions
  • Strong behaviour management skills
  • A proactive and adaptable approach
  • Passion for supporting pupil progress

Working hours:

  • Monday to Friday
  • 8:30am – 3:30pm
  • Full-time, term-time only

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
