Protocol Education is partnering with primary schools throughout Gateshead to recruit skilled and enthusiastic HLTAs for full-time positions.

You'll play an important role in supporting classroom learning, delivering interventions and providing cover where needed. The schools are looking for adaptable professionals who can confidently work with pupils across a range of primary year groups.

The Role

• Full-time position
• September 2026 start
• Monday-Friday
• Term-time only
• Working hours of either 8:30am-3:30pm or 8:30am-4:30pm
• Long-term placements
• Permanent opportunities available

Your Responsibilities

• Delivering lessons from existing teacher planning
• Taking responsibility for classes during staff absence
• Running literacy, numeracy and phonics interventions
• Supporting children with additional needs and SEND
• Tracking pupil progress and communicating observations
• Encouraging positive behaviour and classroom engagement
• Supporting pupils throughout EYFS, KS1 and KS2

We're Looking For

• An HLTA qualification or relevant equivalent experience
• Previous experience in a primary classroom
• Confidence managing a class independently
• Strong behaviour management abilities
• An adaptable and dependable approach
• A passion for helping children develop
