Job description
I am working with a Secondary school base between Slough and High Wycombe who are looking for a History Teacher full or part time from January 2018.

The History Department is currently made up of three teachers who have a breadth of experience and subject specialism. They are an able and enthusiastic team with a proven track record of results who are always looking to ensure that the teaching and learning within the department has pace, challenge and caters for all needs, allowing students to progress to their full potential. They are also a collaborative team ensuring that all resources and planning is shared out fairly across the department. The department has three fully equipped classrooms, installed with a projector and an interactive whiteboard. They have wireless internet access throughout the department and many software packages installed on the school network. All teaching staff are issued a school laptop.
The school are looking for an exceptional candidate who can teach across all Key Stages, someone who is committed to the progress and attainment of the young people within the school and someone who is keen to lead the department forwards. They will bring their own skills, expertise and experience to ensure the department continues to provide a challenging and energetic learning experience to the students.

At Key Stage 3 they follow a scheme of work which follows the History of Britain from 1066-1945 but also includes case studies on France, America and the slave trade and Civil Rights. They are a reflective department and continually update the scheme of work based on the needs of the student body. They have fully written legacy schemes of work and a large bank of resources to support teaching and learning. Students are given aspirational target levels at the start of each year and tested each half term to assess progress against their target grades.
At Key Stage 4 students follow the Edexcel specification. They cover units such as The Cold War, Saxon and Norman England, Warfare Through Time and America 1954-75. We have fully written schemes of work at Key Stage 4 and have a wealth of resources to support the course.
At Key Stage 5 they currently offer History A level, following the OCR specification. Students study a wide and diverse range of periods including Medieval Church and Government, Saxon and Norman England and International Relations 1890-1941.

The staff at the school strive to extend the horizons of the students, encouraging them to aim high and become independent learners. With a robust, ambitious development plan, teachers can focus on improving the quality of learning and outcomes. Students need little encouragement to take part in a very wide range of extra-curricular activities, including a range of sports, dance, community service and enterprise. To support this, colleagues are encouraged to contribute their skills and enthusiasm to the wider curriculum, with its opportunities for adventurous learning and active citizenship.
In return, staff benefit from a comprehensive induction programme. Ongoing career development is an expectation for all, with opportunities provided for staff to advance within the school, as well as offering support for those who may wish to find promotion elsewhere.

I look forward to receiving your application.
