Secondary Teacher History Teacher

We’re working with a forward-thinking secondary academy driven by a clear and meaningful purpose, helping pupils enjoy learning, aim high, and feel valued every single day. Everything they do is shaped by three core values, Aspiration, Respect and Excellence, and you can genuinely feel it the moment you walk through the doors. There’s a real sense of pride, belonging and calm ambition.

This role is primarily History, teaching across KS3 and KS4, with some wider Humanities where it fits naturally. For the right person, there’s also the opportunity to teach A Level History. The curriculum is thoughtfully sequenced and rich in both British and global history, with a strong focus on enquiry, critical thinking and building evidence-based arguments. This isn’t about box-ticking. It’s about meaningful learning that sticks.

You’ll be part of a welcoming and collaborative Humanities faculty made up of History, Geography and RE specialists. It’s a team that plans together, shares ideas openly, and genuinely has each other’s backs. Whether you’re an ECT finding your feet or an experienced teacher looking for a school that trusts your judgement, you’ll be supported and encouraged to do your best work.

One of the academy’s standout strengths is its year-based system. It creates a nurturing environment where pupils feel known, supported and proud of their school. Older students step into leadership roles, model positive behaviour and help run events, all rooted in those same shared values of aspiration, respect and excellence.

Beyond lessons, there’s a strong extra-curricular offer across sport, creativity and academic enrichment. Pupils build confidence and strong relationships, and staff are encouraged to get involved in ways that suit them. No pressure, just opportunity.

Start dates are flexible, with positions available from January 2026, April 2026 or September 2026. Applications are welcome from both ECTs and experienced Humanities teachers.

What you’ll need:

  • UK QTS, or be on track to achieve it

  • A genuine passion for History and strong subject knowledge

  • The ability to build positive relationships and spark curiosity

  • A commitment to inclusive, values-led education

What Protocol Education offers:

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies

  • Free access to our online CPD Academy

  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who actually listens

  • Opportunities that match your values, not just your CV

If you’re looking for a History role where pupils are engaged, values truly matter, and staff work as a team, this one’s well worth a conversation.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
