Protocol Education is recruiting confident and enthusiastic Higher Level Teaching Assistants to support a range of primary and specialist schools across Sunderland from September.

You'll enjoy a varied role, leading lessons, delivering interventions and supporting pupils with a wide range of learning needs. This is a fantastic opportunity for experienced Teaching Assistants looking to develop their career within education.

Role Details

• Full-time
• September 2026 start
• Monday-Friday
• Working hours between 8:30am-3:30pm and 8:30am-4:30pm
• Term-time only
• Long-term opportunity with permanent prospects

Your responsibilities

• Covering whole classes during teacher absence
• Delivering high-quality intervention programmes
• Supporting pupils with SEND and additional needs
• Assisting with planning and classroom preparation
• Building positive relationships with pupils, staff and families
• Helping create a safe, engaging and inclusive learning environment

We're looking for someone who

• Holds an HLTA qualification or significant classroom experience
• Is confident leading lessons independently
• Has excellent communication and classroom management skills
• Is flexible, reliable and enthusiastic
• Has a genuine passion for helping children succeed

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
