Protocol Education is working with a number of welcoming primary schools and specialist provisions across Sunderland who are looking to recruit experienced Higher Level Teaching Assistants (HLTAs) to join their teams on a full-time basis from September.

Due to the locations of some of our schools, a full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle is highly desirable, allowing you to support schools in more rural or less accessible areas where public transport can be limited. Schools across Sunderland regularly seek HLTAs to deliver interventions, provide classroom cover and support pupil progress.

Role Details

• Full-time
• September start
• Monday-Friday
• Working hours between 8:30am–3:30pm and 8:30am–4:30pm
• Term-time only
• Long-term opportunity with the potential for a permanent contract

Your responsibilities

• Delivering pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher
• Leading targeted interventions across EYFS, KS1 and KS2
• Supporting pupils with SEND and additional learning needs
• Monitoring pupil progress and feeding back to teachers
• Working collaboratively with teaching staff and SENCOs
• Promoting positive behaviour and an inclusive learning environment

We're looking for someone who

• Holds an HLTA qualification or has significant classroom experience
• Has a full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (preferred)
• Can confidently cover classes across different year groups
• Is organised, adaptable and proactive
• Has excellent communication and behaviour management skills

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
