Higher Level Teaching Assistant

We’re working with a welcoming secondary school near Telford that’s looking for a confident and compassionate HLTA to join their SEN unit. This is a role where no two days are the same, but every day matters. You’ll be supporting students with additional needs, helping them feel safe, engaged, and ready to learn.

The school has a strong pastoral focus, a supportive team, and a genuine commitment to helping every young person succeed, both inside and outside the classroom.

Your role will include:

• Supporting students within the SEN unit on a 1:1 and small group basis
• Helping pupils regulate emotions, build confidence, and access learning
• Working closely with teaching staff, SENCOs, and pastoral teams
• Delivering targeted interventions and adapting support where needed
• Building positive, consistent relationships that help students feel understood and supported
• Encouraging independence, resilience, and engagement throughout the school day

You’ll need:

• Experience working with children or young people with SEND
• A calm, patient, and adaptable approach
• Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
• Confidence supporting students with a range of additional needs
• A genuine passion for helping young people succeed

Bonus points if you’re:

• Thrive trained, or happy to complete our free Thrive training
• Experienced supporting SEMH, autism, ADHD, or challenging behaviour
• Comfortable working in secondary or alternative provision settings
