A Special Education Teaching Assistant is needed for full time role in a secondary school located in Tulse Hill. This mainstream school has a special unit for students with hearing loss and special educational needs. Pupils within this school also have Social, emotional and mental health challenges

Candidates should ideally:

• Be passionate about working in education
• Have experience working with children with SEN
• Be adaptable and able to work in a challenging setting
• Be committed, resilient and positive
• Have excellent attendance and punctuality record
• Communicate with parents and carers
• Able to relay BSL from hearing impaired students to non-signing students or adults.
• Excellent strategic & communication skills, the ability to use initiative and that can work well under pressure.

Required experience:

• Experience working in specialist schools such as SEN schools, Pupil Referral Units or in Youth Work.
• Previous support work within a school or other child related experience.
• Strong behaviour management and confident with challenging behaviour.
• Happy to work one to one and small group work.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.
