Are you looking for a Head of Art position in Dulwich?

Protocol Education is working in partnership with a school who are seeking an ambitious, enthusiastic and creative Head of Arts caniddate, who will inspire and guide a team of two Art Teachers. The position is full-time starting in September of before for the right person

The successful candidate will need to have strong management experience and a visionary mindset to drive the Art department to become the leading department in the borough.

As Head of Arts, you will be expected to:

● Plan, resource and deploy staff to deliver high quality lessons to pupils from Early Years to Year 8
● Accurately assess, record and report on the development and attainment of pupils
● Manage the departmental budget
● Assume responsibility for the display of artwork throughout the school. Oversee exhibitions and Open Day displays to create a sense of awe and wonder. Organise inspirational participatory activities for Open Mornings.
● Be able to devise and deploy staff to manage a broad range of extra-curricular workshops for pupils, families, staff and beyond, that create opportunities for all age ranges that may include ceramics, jewellery making, painting, the use of digital art packages and sculpture.
● Collaborate with departments across the school to ensure that the most is made of the facilities and spaces to best showcase children's work and create opportunities for inter-departmental engagement.
● Have oversight of all school displays and support staff in developing displays for their subject areas. Develop systems that enable departments to manage their displays and keep them relevant and current.
● Engage the school with local and national projects that help to raise the profile of the arts both within the school and beyond, on an annual basis. Be responsible for coordinating work for submission.
● Engage fully with and take advantage of our location and proximity to Galleries and exhibitions in the centre of London.
● Identify, coordinate and nurture potential art scholarship candidates, and prepare them (and their portfolio work) for senior school assessments.
● Be an avid and exuberant communicator with staff and parents on all issues related to Art Education. Ensure that you inspire a passion for the arts amongst all stakeholders.
● Work with the Director of Creative Arts to ensure that there is collaboration and coordination in both event management, use of facilities and quality of delivery.
