Secondary Teacher Secondary Teaching

Looking to get your foot in the door in a secondary school, but want more than just “covering lessons”?

We’re working with a number of welcoming and well-run secondary schools across Telford and Shrewsbury who are looking for motivated Graduate Teachers to join them. These are great opportunities if you’re thinking about teaching long-term and want real classroom experience that actually builds your confidence.

This isn’t about standing at the front and hoping for the best. You’ll be properly involved, supporting learning, building relationships, and gradually stepping into more responsibility as you grow.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Supporting pupils across KS3 and KS4 in a range of subjects
  • Leading small group sessions and helping to keep lessons on track
  • Covering lessons where needed, with support from experienced staff
  • Building positive relationships with students and becoming a consistent presence in the classroom
  • Encouraging engagement, confidence, and good learning habits
  • Working closely with teaching staff and pastoral teams to support student progress

What we’re looking for:

  • A recent graduate (any subject, though English, Maths, Science, or Humanities are a bonus)
  • Someone calm, confident, and able to think on their feet
  • Strong communication skills and a natural ability to build rapport
  • A genuine interest in education and working with young people
  • Any experience in tutoring, coaching, mentoring, or youth work is a big plus
  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or happy to apply for one
  • Two recent references

This role is ideal if you’re considering teacher training in the future and want to build solid, hands-on experience in a supportive school environment first.

You’ll get a real feel for school life, develop your classroom presence, and figure out what kind of educator you want to be, all while making a genuine impact day to day.

Why Protocol Education?

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella faff
  • Free access to our CPD Academy to build your skills
  • A dedicated consultant who actually listens to what you want
  • Opportunities across a range of local schools
  • Simple, straightforward registration

If you’re ready to step into the classroom and start building your future in education, let’s have a chat.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
