Protocol Education is recruiting a full-time Graduate Psychology Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming specialist SEND school in Gateshead. This role is ideal for a Psychology graduate looking to gain practical experience supporting children and young people with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech and language needs, and additional learning difficulties.

You will work closely with experienced teachers, therapists and pastoral staff, helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally in a supportive and inclusive environment.

Your role will include

• Supporting pupils 1:1 and in small groups

• Encouraging confidence and independence

• Supporting emotional regulation and positive behaviour

• Adapting learning activities to individual needs

• Building positive, professional relationships with pupils

• Assisting with targeted interventions

• Monitoring progress and sharing feedback with staff

We are looking for someone who is

• A Psychology graduate or holds a related degree

• Empathetic and patient

• Calm and resilient

• A strong communicator

• Observant and reflective

• Keen to learn and develop professionally

This role is particularly suited to graduates considering careers in Educational Psychology, Teaching, Speech and Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS).
