Protocol Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and ambitious secondary school in the heart of Bristol, very close to the main hub of University of Bristol, to recruit Geography students to join their team as Cover Supervisors, working flexibly around your studies.
This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable classroom experience while studying, earning as you develop leadership, communication and behaviour management skills that will stand out on your CV.
We regularly work with students from the University of Bristol and UWE Bristol. If you have little or no experience, you can begin with us as a Teaching Assistant, building your confidence while completing training before progressing into Cover Supervision, if it's the right fit for you.
Located close to Bristol city centre, this diverse and inclusive secondary school is proud of the community it serves. Every pupil is encouraged to achieve their potential, and every member of staff plays an important part in creating a positive, supportive environment where young people can thrive.
Unlike many day-to-day supply roles, you'll become a familiar face within the school, building relationships with staff and students and developing your confidence over time.
While this school will be your main placement, you'll also have the opportunity to work in other nearby secondary schools if you'd like to broaden your experience or pick up additional days.
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll supervise lessons when teachers are absent, ensuring pupils remain engaged with the work that's been set. You're not expected to teach new content. Instead, you'll use your training, communication skills, confidence and professionalism to create a calm and productive learning environment.
Although your background is in Geography, you'll cover a range of different subjects throughout the school day. This is completely normal, as the role focuses on classroom management rather than subject expertise. You'll:
We understand that university comes first. There will be busy periods during the year, including fieldwork, exams and assignment deadlines, so you decide when you're available. Simply update your availability and we'll work around your schedule.
Whether you're considering a career in education, environmental science, planning, research or another people-focused profession, this role offers flexible work that develops confidence, leadership and communication skills while making a real difference in a thriving school community.
All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.
Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
