Job description
A lovely (rated GOOD' by OFSTED) primary school in Willesden, Brent is currently looking for an experienced Learning Support Assistant to work as a general TA and provide 1:1 support to a child in EYFS. This is a full-time job starting ASAP and continuing at last until July 2018.

As a general TA you will be required to assist the class in every day activities, minimize the disruptions in the classroom and help the class teacher with displays and admin work. On top of this, the candidate will be working with a child who has a physical disability and needs support to move around the school. Although not official, there is also a possibility that the child has a cognitive disability, which will require the suitable candidate to assist them in both academic development and social interactions with other children. You will have to set clear boundaries, supervise the child in the classroom and help them feel safe but also fully enjoy their learning experience in the school.

The suitable candidate MUST have experience in/with:
- Makaton
- Alternative and Augmentative Communication (AAC)
- Toileting
- Working with children who have mobility issues.

On top of this, we're looking for the following skills and attributes:
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Professional working manner
• A passion for working with children
• Strong literacy and numeracy
• Experience of working with children with challenging behaviour & excellent behaviour management skills
• Good understanding of the EYFS British National Primary School Curriculum
• Ability to work with minimum of supervision

Although not essential la good degree in a relevant discipline (2.2 or above OR A childcare or teaching assistant diploma (or other relevant qualification), and/or First Aid Certificate would be a bonus.
