Full-Time BSL Teaching Assistant (Level 2) – Gateshead | September 2026

Protocol Education is working with schools across Gateshead to recruit a Level 2 BSL Teaching Assistant for a full-time role starting in September.

This position offers the opportunity to work with learners who require specialist communication support, helping them access the curriculum and achieve positive outcomes.

Key Duties

• Deliver support using British Sign Language
• Facilitate communication within the classroom
• Promote learner independence and self-confidence
• Support educational and personal development goals
• Travel between multiple educational sites throughout Gateshead

Essential Criteria

• Level 2 BSL qualification
• Full UK driving licence and own vehicle
• Strong communication and organisational skills
• Passion for supporting children and young people

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
