Protocol education are pleased to be recruiting for a special school located in Wandsworth. We are looking for SEND specialist teaching assistants that have a passion for supporting vulnerable children. Given the current situation with schools being temporarily closed, this role is set to start in September of 2020, however this is subject to change.

This role is for an individual who is committed, reliable, proactive and has a passion for education. Our school caters to the needs of children aged 2-11 years old, with a range of multifaceted physical disabilities, severe and/or profound learning difficulties with additional communication needs.

Staff are expected to focus on their pupils and what they can do now. The school liaise in close relationship with families and the multi-disciplinary team around the child, they develop aspiring and meaningful expectations and celebrate every single achievement their pupil's make. We are looking for someone who will focus on creating an environment that will empower each child to become confident, independent life-learners who are able to express themselves and their choices, whilst safeguarding, their happiness and safety.

As a specialist establishment, the school require someone who is open and flexible about working in special needs and is keen to advance their skills. As part of the role, we offer accredited CPD that include learning strategies, behaviour techniques and medical procedures.

This is a full-time support position up until the end of the 2020/2021 academic school year, with a competitive salary.

Main Duties:

·Supporting students 1:1 with numeracy, literacy & sensory integration
·Encouraging social skills and independent living through community work i.e. shopping, visiting the local farm & cooking
·Assessing pupils' levels and ability
·Behaviour management
·Comfortable or open to supporting learners with personal care
