Protocol Education are seeking an experienced teaching assistant to work in our independent Ofsted Outstanding specialist mixed secondary school, providing a broad and balanced education for children who have been excluded from mainstream schools. The school provides all pupils with a happy and safe environment and focuses their teaching on the national curriculum along with additional sports and activities.

To work within this role, you will need to be strong and resilient to be able to handle challenging behaviour. As many of the pupils have social and emotional mental health needs, you will be required to work alongside strong external support links such as the Police and Health Services.

We are looking for individuals who will have patience, empathy and respect for the needs of each pupil. The main purpose of the role will be to provide children with the specialist care, and they need to live happy, healthy and productive lives.

• Hoisting children.
• Supporting children to the bathroom and during lunch times.
• Ensuring students engage with lessons, providing academic support and working under the instruction of the class teacher.
• Supporting children develop their social and emotional awareness.
• Helping the students with their life skills.

For this role, you will have:

• Experience working in specialist schools.
• Previous experience with vulnerable adults or children.
• An enthusiastic and friendly, yet firm approach.

What do I need to apply?

• Experience caring for vulnerable individuals.
• Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willing to complete this).
• Enthusiastic attitude towards inspiring children.

Apply now with an up-to-date CV and all successful candidates will be contacted to progress their application.

We undertake safeguarding checks on all our workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance Keeping Children Safe in Education'. As part of these checks, we require a current Enhanced DBS Disclosure for everyone working in schools. If you do not have a valid subscription to the DBS Update Service, we will require you to complete a new DBS application as part of the registration process, at a cost of £40.00
