Experienced Makaton Trained SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant with Makaton training looking for your next role this September?

We are working with specialist SEND schools across Sunderland who are looking to recruit dedicated Teaching Assistants with experience supporting pupils with Autism, complex learning needs and speech and language difficulties.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
• Using Makaton to promote communication and independence.
• Working alongside teachers, Speech and Language Therapists and wider professionals.
• Encouraging positive behaviour and engagement throughout the school day.
• Supporting pupils with personalised learning programmes.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience working within SEND education.
• Makaton training or practical experience using Makaton.
• A calm, patient and nurturing approach.
• A genuine passion for helping children achieve their full potential.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
