English Teacher (SEND) Excellent setting (Wakefield Area)

The role is in a recently refurbished setting with all the modern facilities, excellent support from the management team and support staff.
You will be teaching students with the aim of improving their academic, personal and social development. This role is demanding and challenging, but very rewarding. You will be teaching learners with Special Educational Needs in a specialist learning environment with small class sizes and high staff to student ratio. You will need to adopt a reflexive approach to learners, their learning and needs, and be able to work creatively and be proactive. Emotional resilience and an ability to engage learners who are on the Autistic spectrum or have become disillusioned with education is a must, ideally you will have experience working in a similar environment, however not essential.

Job Specification

•Differentiating teaching materials to suit learners needs at the time.
•Managing a small team of support professionals.
•Adhering to very specific learning plans and adding to these if required
•Attending school events such as parents evenings where required
•Adapting learning to increase interaction.
•Provide emotional support if required.
•Encourage appropriate social interactions.
•Maintain professional standards at all times.

Person Specification

•Experience working in a similar environment or other experience of working with young people who may present challenging behaviours.
•Resilience and patience, compassion and understanding.
•An ability to be proactive, creative and empathetic.
•Have an approachable and supportive manner when liaising with team members
•To be able to follow detailed behaviour support plans (BSPs), individual learning plans (ILPs).
•To adhere to the school's policies and practices.
•Ideally you will be Team Teach trained (not essential)
