Protocol Education is working with a friendly and forward-thinking secondary school looking for a Design and Technology Teacher to join their established team.

This opportunity would suit an experienced DT teacher ready for a new challenge, or an ECT looking for a school where support is more than just a buzzword. You’ll be joining a department that works closely together, shares ideas freely, and celebrates progress, both in and out of the classroom.

The role involves teaching Design and Technology across KS3 and KS4, delivering practical, engaging lessons that build creativity, confidence and problem-solving skills. The curriculum is broad and well-planned, with room to lean into your strengths and specialism.

You’ll be:

  • Delivering engaging DT lessons that inspire hands-on learning
  • Creating a positive classroom environment where students feel confident to try, create and improve
  • Adapting teaching to support different learning needs
  • Tracking progress and using assessment to move learning forward
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues to keep lessons creative and consistent
  • Building strong relationships and promoting positive behaviour for learning

What we’re looking for:

  • UK QTS, or working towards it as an ECT
  • A passion for Design and Technology and practical learning
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • A reflective mindset and willingness to keep developing
  • High expectations and a commitment to inclusive education

What Protocol Education offers:

  • Weekly PAYE pay, no umbrella companies
  • Free access to our online CPD Academy
  • Ongoing support from a dedicated consultant who genuinely listens
  • Opportunities matched to your values and teaching style
  • A smooth and straightforward registration process

If you’re an ECT, this is a great chance to build confidence in a supportive department with strong mentoring in place. If you’re experienced, it’s an opportunity to join a school where your ideas and expertise will be valued from day one.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role. Please see the FAQs on the Protocol Education website for further details.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.

Protocol Education is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. We undertake safeguarding checks on all workers in accordance with the DfE statutory guidance ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’, this may also include an online search as part of our due diligence on shortlisted applicants.
We offer FREE online safeguarding and Prevent Duty training to all our workers. All candidates must undertake or have undertaken a valid enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check and subscribe to the DBS Update Service.

Full assistance provided. For details of our privacy policy, please see visit the Protocol Education website.
