Job description
Are you trained at any level in Sign Language from BSL Level 2 or even MAKATON?

Do you have a passion for supporting children and young people with communication difficulties, and are looking for full-time work in an inspirational school?

A purposeful BSL Teaching Assistant who is rewarded by seeing pupils achieve is wanted to join this OFSTED 'OUTSTANDING SCHOOL' as a BSL Teaching Assistant.

Do you have all or most of the following?
**Valid, clean registered DBS or able to apply for a new one
**A passion for working in a SEN environment as a BSL Teaching Assistant

Person Specification - BSL Teaching Assistant
The ideal candidate will be a dependable and friendly person who has experience supporting SEN children and a warm personality which makes their pupils feel at ease. We want to recruit someone who has the skills to give clear and concise instruction to pupils that require assistance with their communication, in order for them to gain a greater understanding of their subject.

About the Role - BSL Teaching Assistant
As a BSL Teaching Assistant at this school, you will be supporting general classes within the hard-working team and you will be supporting as a 1:1 mentor around the school, as well as in the classroom. Your duties will include making the most of the exceptional range of CPD opportunities on offer and assisting teachers in the running of a range of extracurricular activities.


Wherever possible, pupils follow the same curriculum as their hearing peers. Pupils will attend mainstream classes with support. However, they may be withdrawn for some subjects and taught in the Deaf Centre, depending on ability. All pupils receive instruction in BSL and Healthy Minds.
