Teaching Assistants with backgrounds in art, drama, or music are required to support SEND schools in Walsall.

This role focuses on working with children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), using creative approaches to support engagement, learning, and development. You will contribute to a structured and supportive classroom environment, helping pupils develop key skills such as communication, independence, and social interaction.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver creative, engaging activities tailored to individual learning needs.
  • Support pupils with sensory processing and encourage positive participation.
  • Work closely with teaching staff to assess progress and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Provide one-to-one and small group support where required.
  • Promote a safe, inclusive, and consistent learning environment.
  • Build effective relationships with parents, carers, and other professionals involved in pupil support.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with SEND, including autism, speech and language difficulties, physical disabilities, or complex learning needs.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with a patient, flexible, and proactive approach.
  • Ability to remain calm and responsive in a dynamic classroom setting.
  • Experience in early years or primary education is advantageous.
  • A creative background with the ability to apply practical skills in a classroom context.

Requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to obtain one).
  • Relevant experience in education, care, or a related field.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
