We are currently recruiting teaching assistants from creative backgrounds such as art, music or acting who are keen to apply their creative skills within a primary special needs school in Wandsworth to start immediately or in January 2022. With state of the art facilities, this particular school offers tailored curriculum to students with a variety of special needs that include visual/hearing impairments, physical disabilities, autism, severe learning disabilities and speech and language difficulties. As a teaching assistant you will be required to think creatively and apply your skills to sensory sessions, develop students hand eye coordination, speech & language skills, social/communication skills, speech and language skills, independence and cognitive processes. In addition, you will have the opportunity to work within a variety of different subjects such as cooking, art & music.

Main Duties:
  • Engaging students through creative activities such as music, art & movement
  • One to one support focusing on students communication and social understanding
  • Helping with sensory integration within the classroom
  • Working with the teacher to assess pupils' levels and ability

  • Can apply their creative skills to their learning
  • Experience is desirable, but not essential

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
