Are you confident, reliable and comfortable leading a room? Protocol Education is working closely and in partnership with a number of secondary schools across Bristol and North Somerset to provide Cover Supervisors / Unqualified Suppy Teachers; schools in convenient locations to you. Our partner schools value our talented Unqualified Supply Teachers / Cover Supervisors. Whether you're seeking a permenant role in education, or flexible cover around studies, this is a pathway into education that is full of opportunity for full or part-time work.
You do not need prior school experience, teaching qualifications or specialist training. All necessary training is provided free of charge. Driving is beneficial, but not essential. The ideal candidates are confident, friendly, outgoing, and able to build rapport quickly with young people. A degree is desirable, but also not essential.
As an Unqualified Supply Teacher / Cover Supervisor, you will:
• Supervise secondary school classes in the absence of the regular teacher
• Deliver pre-planned lessons and ensure students complete set work (no 'teaching' required)
• Maintain a calm, structured and positive classroom environment
• Support students to remain engaged and on task
• Follow school behaviour policies and established routines
You are not expected to teach new material. The focus of the role is strong classroom presence, behaviour management and ensuring a focused working environment.
If you do not feel you have the right experience to dive in to Cover Supervision / Unqualified Supply Teaching, you can begin as a Teaching Assistant to gain classroom experience and observe teaching while you undertake classroom leadership training, and begin taking Cover Supervisor shifts when you're ready.
