Protocol Education are working with a number of Sunderland Secondary Schools to recruit cover supervisors to work on a day to day or long to basis.
As a cover supervisor you will carry out pre-prepared lessons when teaching staff are on short-term absence. The cover supervisor's main job is to manage a classroom, ensuring that students remain on task with the work they have been set.
You could be covering a range of lessons across the curriculum. It is important to note that you don't have to hold a recognised teaching qualification or have a subject specialism to work as a cover supervisor. The key to success in the role is to be able to build a rapport with children and manage large groups.
A job as a cover supervisor is ideal for graduates interested in training to become a teacher. The first-hand classroom experience is a fantastic addition to any PGCE or SCITT application. Candidates from a drama and performing arts backgrounds have also found success in this area.
All cover supervisor candidates will be giving access to free training, including safeguarding and classroom management.
- Work will be available during term time, Monday- Friday. Candidates with part time availability of up to 3 days will also be considered.
- Roles available will start ASAP and September 2022.
- Work will be available for both drivers and public transport users

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
