About the Role

We are seeking a reliable, confident and enthusiastic Cover Supervisor to join a supportive secondary school in Sheffield.

The successful candidate will supervise classes during the absence of teaching staff, ensuring students remain engaged with their work and that a positive, safe and productive learning environment is maintained.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise students across a range of year groups and subjects.
• Deliver pre-prepared lessons and learning activities provided by teaching staff.
• Maintain a calm, positive and well-managed classroom environment.
• Follow school policies and procedures, particularly regarding behaviour and safeguarding.
• Support students with their learning and encourage positive engagement.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and fairly.
• Take attendance and maintain appropriate classroom records.
• Provide feedback to teaching staff regarding students' progress, behaviour and engagement.
• Ensure students complete the work set by their teachers.
• Support the wider school team with duties and activities when required.

Experience

Previous experience working in a school, college, youth setting or similar environment is desirable but not essential.

Graduates, Teaching Assistants and individuals considering a career in teaching are encouraged to apply.
